David Buxbaum

Mr. Buxbaum is a graduate of Occidental College where he received a Bachelor of Arts Degree.  He receive his Juris Doctor Degree from the University of California, Los Angeles, School of Law.  During law school Mr. Buxbaum worked with a faculty member on the research and writing of a legal reference book on urban planning.  His contributions were acknowledged in the book.  He was an editor of various publications at  the law school.  Mr. Buxbaum was also an editor of a local bar association journal for many years while in professional practice.

Mr. Buxbaum is a founding member of the firm and has practiced law in California since 1970.  His professional affiliations include the American Bar Association, California Bar Association, the Los Angeles County Bar Association, and local bar associations.

Mr. Buxbaum has served in various local city government positions, including chairman of the City of Claremont Planning Commission.  Mr. Buxbaum is active with numerous non-profit foundations and boards and is currently a trustee of many local educational and charitable organizations.  He has founded and organized a regional national bank, in addition to establishing thousands of corporations in his capacity as a business attorney.  Mr. Buxbaum has also been selected to serve as a hearing officer in disciplinary actions involving professionals.  Mr. Buxbaum has extensive experience in representing the firm's clients before State of California and federal regulatory agencies, such as the  California Department of Insurance, California Banking Department, California Commissioner of Corporations, and United States Comptroller of Currency.

Mr. Buxbaum's expertise is in the areas of business, banking,  insurance, finance, taxes, estate planning, and real estate.

John Chakmak

Mr. Chakmak is a graduate of Stanford University where he received a Bachelor of Arts Degree in 1967.  He received his Juris Doctor Degree from the University of California, Los Angeles, School of Law, in 1970.  While in law school he was a member of the Honors Moot Court.

Mr. Chakmak is a founding member of Buxbaum  & Chakmak, A Law Corporation, and has practiced law in California since 1971.  He specializes in business, real estate, insurance law, and civil litigation.  He has litigated "high profile" cases, including claims for  health insurance benefits for AIDS, discrimination suits, and cancellations of  master health insurance policies. He has represented clients in numerous  appellate court decisions that have established legal precedent in California  law.

Mr. Chakmak's professional involvement has included memberships in the Orange County and Los Angeles County Bar Associations, the California Consumer Attorneys Association, the Association of Southern California Defense Counsel, and the Litigation and Law Office Management Sections of the State Bar of California.

He has served as a private mediator in cases involving business, insurance, and real estate related disputes.  He has also served as a court appointed  arbitrator.

Mr. Chakmak has extensive experience in business, real estate, and insurance transactions.  He has been a licensed California real estate broker since 1978. He has been a media resource for issues relating to the insurance industry.  He has been interviewed on ABC network television, Fox Television News, and the Cable News Network, and has participated on public television panels on legal issues.  He has been quoted by such media sources as Newsweek, the New York Times, the Los Angeles Times, the San Francisco Examiner, and numerous other newspapers and periodicals.

Dan Hanoum

Mr. Hanoum received his undergraduate degree from California State University Long Beach graduating with Bachelor of Arts Degree in Philosophy in 1987. He received his Juris Doctorate Degree from the University of Washington School of Law in 1991.  While at law school he was appointed as an Administrative Law Judge for the University of Washington Traffic Court.

Mr. Hanoum was admitted to the State Bar of Washington in 1991 and the State Bar of California in 1993. He has also been admitted to practice law in United States Federal Court.

Mr. Hanoum's professional involvement has included memberships with the Orange County Bar Association and the Los Angeles County Bar Association.

Mr. Hanoum has extensive experience in criminal law, family law, and general civil litigation. He currently practices in the areas of family law, domestic violence, civil litigation, real estate, real property, and probate and trust litigation.
